#8 Sleepless in Seattle(1993) Amanda Valderrama

Directed by: Nora Ephron

I thought this romantic comedy featuring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan was heartwarming. Much like "You've Got Mail", the chemistry between Hanks and Ryan was well depicted through their characters. The film has a very charming and innocent feel to it, all the way up until the end when the two characters finally meet. For most your going to make the assumption of it being another cheesy rom-com and although it does fall into its categories the film still leaves you in that whimsical feel of a happily ever after. This film also pays tribute to the classic, "An Affair to Remember" making it a movie that is appropriate to play off all the setups and mishaps that occur among Sam and Annie. My favorite scene was when Jonah calls the radio station and Sam spends the night talking on the phone with the host. I liked it because you really got to see what kind of person Sam is and it made the character seem more relating and realistic talking about losing his wife and raising his son on his own. I think this film also pays tribute to technology in this day and age, with online dating and personal ads. People who participate in those kinds of things have an ideal image of what that person should be like, this film kind of gives hope to the ones looking for someone in cyberspace. Overall, I think the actors made the characters easy to fall in love with making any viewer look past the stereotypes of just another romantic comedy.
