Singles

Year: 1992

Director: Cameron Crowe

Singles is a romantic comedy about six people and how their lives intertwine as they search for happiness in their lives. The six main characters live in Seattle, Washington during an error of rock music, which plays a main roll in each of their lives. Parts of this film are filmed like a mocumentary because each character is filmed in a close up shot, giving the illusion they are talking to the camera about where they are in their lives.

Cameron Crowe was clever in the ways he connected the six characters. Whether they were neighbors, old lovers, friends, or new lovers they all had intertwining stories. It was very cinematic how he had these six people who were so lost in the beginning find themselves through the help of each other without even realizing it. Through his film it shows you the real ups and downs in relationships and in life in general not just the perfect romance we see so much in movies today. Of course as viewers we want happy endings, and Cameron Crowe does give us that, but in a way that was unexpected and unique of most romantic comedies.
